An unusual “canned ham” trailer.
We found this little trailer in upstate New York, half-buried on a piece of land that had recently sold to a new owner who wasn't going to use the land for hunting and didn't want a hunting trailer. We towed it back to Washington DC and used it for a while as an office in our workshop.
“Canned ham” trailers have exploded in popularity in recent years because they're light and small, and therefore easy to tow behind most normal passenger cars. But because they're so small, most of them lack a full bathroom, instead containing just a kitchen sink for all of the camper's water functions.
This is a very unusual canned ham, though, because it has a full bathroom in the rear, with a porcelain sink, toilet and stand-up shower. This, in addition to a full kitchen, making this one of our most accessible and useful trailers. All the advantages of a small trailer, but without the compromises.
We found the trailer in decent condition, but there is a fair amount of work that we're going to have to do before we put her into regular service. We recently towed her from Washington DC to New Mexico, where she is resting near the other trailers at our base camp in the Jemez Mountains. Before her restoration is complete, though, we can rent Charlotte for film and still creative productions. Contact us to inquire about availability, rates and logistics.
